My horse initially pulled a shoe and looked a bit sore. After a new shoe was fitted she was still intermittently lame. My friend recommended Audra to come out and scan her as scanning can pick up abnormalities. Audra explained the process from start to finish, and was so very patient with my girl who, at times, could be uncooperative. From Audra’s report abnormalities were seen and on her advice I called the vet. The end result, from x rays, concluded a historic fracture to her right knee, beginning of navicular, and pedal bone changes. Audra kept in touch with me throughout; an excellent service from a lovely person. Thanks Audra!
| Horse Details | Standardbred Pacer, 13 Year Old, Ex-racehorse |
| History | The horse presented with loose shoe initially. The farrier attended and a new shoe was fitted. Following this incident the horse became unsound with front end lameness. Previous history of injury to N/S (LT) hind, 3 years previously. |
| Diagnostics | ThermScan performed full body thermal scan and produced a comprehensive report which was reviewed with owner. Relevant images are shown below. |
| Outcome | ThermScan’s report identified abnormal asymmetrical thermal pattern O/S (RT) distal forelimb at knee and hoof and O/S (RT) distal hind. Following the thermal scan the vet attended, and subsequently radiographs were taken of the knee area which confirmed a fracture to the O/S (RT) knee suspected to be an old injury. During lameness work-up the horse was also diagnosed with low grade navicular and it was noted that there was O/S (RT) hind lameness. |
